MTAS Psychology has been providing medico-legal and expert witness services since it was established in December 2009. We are currently instructed at a rate of over 750 reports per year. We provide assessments for adults and children, in Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, Family Law, Criminal Law and Occupational Stress cases.
MTAS Psychology can provide numerous and varied psychological assessments, either in person or via video link. We assess Claimant’s and Defendant’s in their homes, at one of our dedicated clinics and in Custodial settings.
Our assessments incorporate psychometric testing, clinical interviewing and medical record reviews.
We tailor our assessments and pricing structure to fit the needs of a case, ensuring cost effective and bespoke packages.
Our dedicated account manager for high value or high stakes instructions ensures a ‘hands on’, smooth and efficient process for Instructing Parties and their clients.
Our Services Include:
Assessment of psychological harm, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Anxiety and Adjustment Disorder in personal injury and medical negligence cases.
Parenting assessments in criminal and civil proceedings, in which the risk posed to children, by their carers, is assessed.
In-depth, pre-sentencing assessments for criminal cases, when a better understanding of a Defendant’s psychological functioning is required by a Judge in order to determine an appropriate sentence.
Assessment of a Defendant’s capacity to stand trial (fitness to plead) in criminal cases.
Assessment of aspects of a Defendant’s psychological functioning that are pertinent to their case, for example, their memory and intellectual functioning or their susceptibility.
Assessment Options and Fees

For a standard PI or RTA injury the fee is around £500 – £600 + VAT
- A clinical assessment
- A brief psychometric screening assessment (where possible)
- A review of medical records/reports
- Production of a compliant, highly accessible and clear psychological report.
- DNA fee is £100

High value reports for catastrophic injury, Clinical Negligence and Employment cases are usually around £1,400 + VAT
- In depth clinical assessment
- Detailed psychometric assessment, including validity/malingering assessment
- Developmental assessment drawing on evidence based psychological theory – normally required for complex presentations
- Review of up to 1000 pages of medical records. For each additional 500 pages there will be an extra fee of £100.00
- A detailed and thorough psychological report
- DNA Fee is £300 for these cases

Comprehensive psychological assessment for child abuse cases, Mental Capacity assessments, Criminal Law and Care Proceedings are usually around £2500 + VAT
- All services from option 2 plus:
- Cognitive / IQ assessment
- Detailed psychometric test of personality functioning
- Structured test of malingering and reliability
